Show #5: May 22-28
Classic Brazillian music for Show #5 - I couldn't resist playing some classic tracks, so many big names in Brazillian music here - this show plays Jorge Ben, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Gal Costa! - in another episode we can focus on the lesser names, but the big names are big for a reason, which is that they made great music! We also take a little spotlight on some West Indian funk music, and start it all off with a little set of funk 45s.
Dennis Landry - Sing My Song (45, Soul Unlimited)
Brand New - Earthquake Part 2 (45, Magic Minstrel)
Eliminators - Give It Up (45, BRC)
Bohannon Band - Stop and Go (45, Dakar)
Lew Hanson and the Islanders - Soul Safari (LP, Just for you..)
Frankie Zhivago Young - Flying High (LP, The Age of Flying High)
Blue Rhythm Combo - BRC's Groove (45, Soundway)
Equals - Funky Like a Train (45, Scramble)
Quarteto Novo - Misturada (LP, S/T)
Candeia - Saducao a Toco Preto (LP, Sigiuente Raiz)
Elis Regina - Bicho do Mato (LP, Em Pleno Verao)
Astrud Gilberto - Take It Easy My Brother Charlie (LP, Now)
Gilberto Gil - Bat Macumba (LP, A Arte De...)
Jorge Ben - Rita Jeep (LP, Negro e Lindo)
Caetano Veloso - Lost in the Paradise (LP, S/T)

I just realized that I made a mistake in the recording of this show - the Quarteto Novo album that 'Misturada' comes from is actually from 1967, not 1973 - I have the second pressing of it, so I didn't realize the date was incorrect.
