Show #42 - Funk with a big dose of soul.

Show #42!  I recorded this show later than I usually do, and so I found myself tending towards the slower end of the spectrum... but with variety, too!  Some deep grooves on here from the Ju-Par Universal Orchestra, Brook Benton brings a really chilled out vocal number, there's the great jazzy Melton Brothers' 'Living in the City', some standout soul from Mike James Kirkland & the Lovelites, and the show finishes on some quality reggae soul by Marcia Griffiths & Claudette Miller.  But it's not all slow!  There's the insane Polish Jazz version of 'Cissy Strut' by the Katowice Big Band, Nostalgia 77, and the worlds first rap tune, recorded by Jacques Dutronc in 1967!

Show #40 - Soul, Reggae, Brazil...

Show #40 - All over the map, as usual!  I don't know why put for some reason I'm playing a lot of really short songs lately, and as a result, I'm covering a lot more ground than I normally do.  So in this episode we go from funk to Brazil to latin to reggae to soul and back to Brazil for more.  Whew... there are 16 songs in this episode, and they're all special - some highlights: Eddy Grant really rockin' with 'Black Skin Blue Eyed Boys', Quebecois soft-porn soundtrack hit 'Psychedelic Party', Brazillian superstars Marcos Valle and Jorge Ben, Lani Hall's sublime 'Love Song', and the Brazillian soulful strut! - Rosinha de Valenca's 'Down'.  Lots to enjoy here, so dig in.
